About My Dream
In
November 2010 I realized that I will turn 30 next year. Big deal - I
thought, it's only another number. Still, despite lack of obsession
about my age, it became clear to me that it is a special birthday. What
do I want to do? Where do I want to be? And, perhaps most importantly,
what do I want to have happened by then? These were the questions that
appeared in my head almost immediately. Most of women in my age want to
get married and/or have a child by the time they hit their 30th but
neither of these have made it to my wishlist. Instead, I looked for one
of those I've always wanted to... things and decided to move it from the
sphere of dreams to reality. So what is it?

Volunteering in Costa Rica!
I've
always wanted to do some volunteer work in a developing country. Use my
time and skills to contribute to the growth of a community and learn
from a different culture.
Why in Costa Rica?
Since
my journey to Argentina in 2006, Latin America has always been on my
mind. In January 2009 I started sponsoring a small girl from Paraguay
(through a UK charity) and my growing interest in the problems of local
people in Latin America led me to Costa Rica.
And what will I do there?
I
will be working for one of the non-profit organizations that help
street children or animals. For 2 months, I will be using my abilities as a carer and English speaker - either supporting children with tasks varying from
playing to learning English or looking after animals in their natural environment. In my free time, I will be studying Spanish
and getting to know the country and its people.
So this website?
The
costs of my trip to Costa Rica are high. To challenge myself, I decided
to give myself 12 months and raise the whole sum by asking you, people I
know (and sometimes people I don't know yet) for the financial support.
Some of you might say: I'm not paying for your holiday! My response
will be one: I am going to Costa Rica to work full time and your money
will be used for that purpose only. If I decide to travel, I will pay
for it myself. This website is to make it easier for you to sponsor me
and understand what I need the money for.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
